About Johntay

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Quick off the line, excellent in deep routes but quick in handoffs too. Focused and locked in.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Often quiet but easily make friends. I stay focused and my happy place is on the field or track. Once I'm in season I am focused mentally on that and ways to improve daily. I take sports seriously. I'm confident in my abilities and often my own hardest critic. Mental health is so important so I make sure to pay attention to that.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Have worked part time since 15. Currently taking summer college courses. Crosby Scholar. NAACP teen member. Three time MVP in track. All Conference in track two years in a row.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I'm quiet so I don't always see myself as a leader but team mates seem to gravitate to me and ask me for advice. I do want to create a program for teams for team building activities away from the field.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

In high school I went through three different coaches in three years and lost a really good coach that I connected with well. We had a loosing season. One game we won and I got State Farm Player of the week, the rest of the season was not given opportunities I felt I could have helped us win. Hard decision to leave the school and my friends my senior year to play for a coach that believes in me

What type of college are you looking for?

Division 1 or competitive D2 that believes in putting in the work to mold me into someone that can continue to grow and develop into a great player. Looking for Computer Major. One that also has a track team.

Johntay was a Queen City Senior Bowl selection who excelled not only as a wide receiver, but he made some plays on defense as a defensive back, and was a major threat as a kickoff and punt returner on Special Teams. Johntay has excellent speed in the open field and shows strong hands and good ball skills on both sides of the ball. Johntay is also an excellent performer in both Indoor and Outdoor Track.
