earns the “Most Poise” superlative for his ability to deliver in high-pressure moments. Since taking over as Mainland’s starter, he has consistently made the right reads and executed when it matters most. His calm presence under pressure has been a defining trait, and last season was no different.
A prime example came in the New Jersey playoffs against Somerville. Franchini threw a clutch two-point conversion with the game on the line to seal the win. That kind of composure has been a theme throughout his career, and there’s no reason to expect anything different this season.
As Mainland gears up for another run, Franchini’s steady leadership and decision-making will be key. He’s proven time and time again that no moment is too big for him.

was a standout performer for Mainland in their state semifinal victory over Somerville. The quarterback played mistake-free football, avoiding turnovers and showing impressive poise. Mainland’s coaching staff put him in positions to succeed by designing plays that got him on the move, and Franchini excelled at completing passes on the run. His ability to push the ball downfield was crucial, particularly in connecting with wide receiver Jake Bloom. One of the highlights of his performance was a perfectly placed 43-yard touchdown pass to Bloom. Franchini’s efficiency as a passer and contributions on the ground proved to be the deciding factor in Mainland’s victory.

took Mainland to glory with a perfect 14-0 record. More impressively, Mainland didn’t suffer a scratch in the state championship game, running it up 56-0 on Ramapo.
The 2026 QB had himself a year. Tossing 20 touchdowns to only 2 interceptions, the sophomore gunslinger threw with precision all season as he picked defenses apart. This is a player that is on the rise, and needs to receive more attention this off season. John and Co. are ready to repeat in 2024.

has led his offense to a perfect 13-0 season so far in 2023. Balanced with a dominant run, a lot of pressure has been taken off John and has set him up to be successful. Throwing for 1124 yards and 18 touchdowns, John has played extremely smart this season, as he has only thrown 2 interceptions in those 13 games. A very strong arm for an underclassman, John lets the play develop and lets the ball fly.

Bombs away! This was the actual note that I had written next to bib #432. When I went to reconcile my on-field notes against a roster, I was surprised to see that this prospect is just entering his sophomore season. Franchini, perhaps the quarterback of the future for Mainland, was especially apt at throwing the deep ball. He threw it with great precision, placing it only where his guy could get hands on it. Franchini also has no lack of arm strength, effectively stretching the field with his strong, powerful arm.
