Mao is another one of the top passers across the central valley and checks in as a top 35 passer in his class across California. He is a accurate and elusive pocket passer that can buy time with his legs and moves well in the pocket while keeping his eyes downfield and delivering on time strikes. Mao gets the ball out quick and is a high IQ guy that scans the field quickly and can move secondary players with his eyes before delivering. He has been stringing together some impressive weeks in the month of October and lands on our standouts list this week after throwing for an absurd 330+ yards and 6 touchdowns.
Mao is quickly emerging as one of the top signal callers across the central valley entering into his Junior season and had a stellar performance on Friday night for Hanford. He has shown much improved arm strength/accuracy and can get the ball out quick with strong throwing mechanics and touch over the top. He erupted for nearly 300 yards and 5 TD’s while adding another rushing TD and showing he can be dynamic with his legs both when buying time and on designed runs outside the pocket. Look for Mao to continue having a breakout season for Hanford and start drawing college interest into this off-season.
Mao made the transfer over to Hanford for his Junior season, and should have a breakout year in 2025. He has strong throwing mechanics, can get the ball out quick and on time and shows a good arm downfield with velocity and touch, especially for a ’27. He does a nice job buying time with his legs, throwing on the run and is a high IQ passer that moves through his progressions quickly before delivering. He checks into our rankings update as a top 35 player at his position across the state and should have a breakout season at the helm for Hanford.
