McCarty rose the rankings after earning DB MVP honors at the PRZ CA Showcase in January. He’s a versatile defender in the secondary that showed his ability to cover as both a nickel and perimeter CB and strong instincts in zone as a junior. He moves with good footwork and technique and did a good job of staying in-phase with WRs in the 1v1 session at January’s showcase. McCarty’s a severely underrecruited DB prospect that should start to gain some traction on the recruiting trail in the near future.

McCarty was one of several returners to the PRZ CA Showcase that earned MVP honors at Sunday’s camp. The 5’11″/175 junior out of Beaumont was a top performer at the event last spring and continued to show his advanced technical skillset and disruptiveness in man coverage. Can play both nickel and perimeter CB and operates with controlled, coordinated footwork. Recorded 46 total tackles, 2 INTs, and 5 TFLs as a junior. Look for McCarty to continue to raise his stock with a busy offseason.

McCarty was a top performer at a Prep Redzone event in April. He lookd like the most technically developed of the defensive backs and consistently played with the best technique among the defensive backs.

Jeremiah was a fun player to watch last weekend. He is from California, so I did not know much about him at all. That was fine, though; he just went out and balled. He was consistent all day, has a solid frame for a sophomore, and was fundamentally impressive.

McCarty was a standout performer for his technical skill in the individual period and his ability to be disruptive at the catch point in 1v1s. He’s an efficient mover that drives on routes with light feet and uses his reach effectively to create PBUs. Look for McClarty to build off his sophomore season for Beaumont as he continues to grow and develop his skillset in the secondary.
