Another SMB Wolfpack standout, senior Jeff Ratliff has bounced around positions in his career, having gone from LB to EDGE, then back to LB, and now as a senior has added a major RB ripple into his game. Ratliff has posted 39 tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble, as well as 41 carries for 329 rushing yards and 5 TDs on the offensive side of the ball. A good athlete who caught my eye at the UW-River Falls Mega Camp, Ratliff has received some serious recruiting interest but hasn’t reported an official college offer past the midseason point of the 2024 regular season. The senior midseason tape shows a RB with quick feet, the speed to go the distance, good burst, and a patient running style. He can easily run through arm tackles and bounce off weaker tackle attempts at his lower body, owns great contact balance, and worked and powered through some good tackle attempts so far this season. He also throws a mean truck stick and is a strong tackler with the play speed to run down loose ball carriers from the backside of the LOS. I really like the added dimension of his running game to his prep portfolio, and can’t believe someone hasn’t offered him. Get this dude an offer!

Ratliff is a versatile linebacker with exceptional size and a commanding physical presence. There’s a dynamic element to his game, as he can blitz off the edge or drop back into coverage, putting the offense in conflict with how he’s deployed. When he’s coming off the edge, Ratliff is a smart player, not biting on fakes, scraping the line of scrimmage and firing downhill. He stays square and is quick to read and react to what the offense is giving him. His athleticism is a key asset, allowing him to recover, evade blocks, and deliver impactful hits. Ratliff’s pursuit skills and solid speed make him a threat in all areas on the field. Overall, his well-rounded skill set, dominance in run defense, versatility, and athleticism position him as a promising player with the potential to make a significant impact next season.

The owner of some impressive sophomore tape that got me very excited to watch this fall, now-junior Jeffrey Ratliff weighs in at a solid 6’3, 215 lbs. and has moved from an off-ball LB spot to a standup EDGE outside of opponents OTs at the LOS. It was hard not to miss Ratliff when he put his pads on ball carriers, and he was the hardest hitting prospect in a matchup filled with hard hitters last Friday night. Heavy hands, able to tackle in space or through contact in the box, and able to execute twists and stunts effectively, Ratliff was an impressive run defender who made sure the Providence Academy offense and ball carriers felt him every hit. He set the tone for his defense last Friday and all season long.
