Mcilwain is a young guard/tackle with exceptional length. He has some versatility and has already flashed as a run blocker and a pass blocker. He plays much longer than his height would suggest, and he’s able to engage and lock on against both tackles and ends. Monroe has run behind that right side quite a bit to start the year, and he’ll continue to be tested against quality competition.

McIlwain is one of the highest-upside offensive linemen in the state. The Union County product is a two-way player, but his future is probably at offensive guard. He has ridiculous strength, especially for a freshman, and some upside, given he’s still developing his footwork.

There’s not a ton to evaluate yet, as most of McIlwain’s freshman year varsity experience was on the defensive line, but he’s a massive individual who can easily displace defenders. He moves well for his size and we think he could end up as a top interior offensive lineman.
