Hawkins played at Canisius last season where he earned 2nd team All WNY honors at FS. He is going back to Sweet Home for his senior year where he is expected to make a huge impact at DB and RB. Jaylen has excellent ball skills and great intuition. His closing speed is phenomenal and should be a problem for Class A.

Hawkins had a breakout year as a sophomore, leading the Panthers in tackles. He is a versatile DB that can lineup at CB or S with natural football intuition. He back pedals well and has excellent closing speed. His junior year will be a big one as he is also expected to be Sweet Home’s leading rusher.

Hawkins finished his sophomore season as Sweet Home’s top tackler at 125 tallies. He is incredibly quick and has great instincts. He can play anywhere in the defensive backfield; whether it be covering the opposition’s best WR, in the slot or either of the Safety positions. Jaylen also proved to be a dependable runner with a shifty style.

Sweet Home leading rusher, Stone is graduating this year which should leave the door open for Jaylen Hawkins Jaylen Hawkins 5'8" | 165 lbs | DB Sweet Home | 2027 State NY for the next two seasons. Jaylen filled in nicely when Daquan left the game because of their big lead, carrying the ball 10 times for 57 yards. Unlike Stone, Hawkins is more of a small, shiftier back that is elusive but effective the same. Jaylen is also a solid DB racking up 100 tackles this year. He also forced a fumble on a kickoff versus McKinley.

Sweet Home’s starting RB aggravated an injury early in their week 6 win so Jaylen Hawkins Jaylen Hawkins 5'8" | 165 lbs | DB Sweet Home | 2027 State NY had to step in a take the reins. The sophomore RB/DB only had 8 carries on the day but turned that in to 98 yards and 2 TDs. If this injury persists, Hawkins will be a name to remember. He is already leading the team in tackles with 55 and has an INT to his credit.
