Johnson helped propel the Hornets to their most wins in a single season in 11 years when he threw for 1,461 yards and 16 touchdowns as a junior. He completed 60.5 percent of his passes and only threw five interceptions in 147 attempts. Now, tack on 1,490 rushing yards and 14 scores over the course of his last two years, and it starts to make sense why Ware Shoals is trending upward for 2025.

Most of Johnson’s best plays running or passing came while moving him out of the pocket. He was dangerous at both, which put defenses into much more reactive situations than they’d like to be. If the Hornets start hot this fall, Johnson will have a lot to do with it.
