Hard-hitter, thumper, mauler, bull at the point of attack, Farmington’s beast of an offensive center is all that and then some, and is smack dab in the middle of an eye-catching, pads-popping summer camp grind that has really shot his stock up in the state’s OL big board. Coming into the live evaluation period, Gournaris didn’t hold any offers, but it was game over as soon as colleges got to see him in person, and especially in pads. Northern State offered after Gournaris camped in Aberdeen, and Bemidji State, Jamestown, Minot State, St. Thomas, Concordia-St. Paul, and MSU-Moorhead have all gotten in the mix, all of whom have seen Gournaris at some point this summer. His summer camp szn was highlighted by a fantastic and physically dominating performance at the PJ Fleck RTB Prospect camp, where his hand usage, understanding of leverage, competitiveness, and brute strength were on full display. As Edina product Quinn Carroll said: this kid is a “dawg.”

Another OL who caught my eyes was the 6’2″ 260 lbs junior out of Farmington. Jayden first caught my attention with his agility and balance as he showed he could easily change direction quickly and efficiently. In 1 vs 1s, Jayden impressed at the center position. He demonstrated a quick set, quick feet to slide laterally as he mirrored DTs, and the anchor strength to not give up ground as he held the point of the pocket or ran his man off to the side. The junior played with good hand use as well, consistently getting inside placement and then using leverage to win his reps. Make sure to check him out.

It’s a heckuva accomplishment to start along the OL as an underclassman in Class 6A, and Farmington’s 6’2, 265 lb. RT Jayden Gournaris had a good season on the edge of the Tiger’s varsity LOS in 2022. Another sturdy representation of Farmington’s strength and conditioning program, Gournaris had a strong performance during the 1-on-1s of December’s PRzMN Stock-Up Showcase in addition to his gridiron exploits during the fall of ’22. Robust in both run support and pass pro, Gournaris looks bendy, can handle speed as well as power rushes when pass setting, and is a proficient finisher who can use his strength or his opponent’s momentum against them. Already shows more pass pro reps in his sophomore tape than most seniors. Looks mobile and strong for his size and age overall. He’s almost guaranteed to see his name climb up the rankings come next update. Great work last fall, Jayden!
