Mitchell was a bright spot during a difficult 2025 season in Ames. The sophomore flashed dual-threat skills in throwing for more than 500 yards and a touchdown, while adding 104 yards and a pair of scores on the ground. There were growing pains, but also a lot of positives in which to build heading into a new season. Mitchell reports running the 40 in 4.75 seconds and the 100 in 11.6 along with a 32.4-inch vertical leap. He listed 195 pounds on the bench, 385 squat and 405 deadlift. He posted a few clips from last fall on his Hudl page. On them, we witness a quarterback capable of impacting the game in multiple ways. He’s fast and quick, which makes him a threat to tuck the ball and rip off chunk plays in the run game every snap. There’s potential in the passing game with a quick release and arm strength. Mitchell throws well on the move in either direction. He’s one to watch in 2026 as a prospect primed for a breakout.
