About Jayce

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

As a rising freshman and I play with a calm/focused mindset. I don't let my emotions get the best of me. I see the field clearly and play like a veteran on both sides of the ball. On defense, I am a field-general. I read the offense formation/strength, tell my teammates the right spot and remind them of their responsibility. On offense, I'm a hard downhill runner who also loves to catch passes.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m a chill kid, which helps me stay cool under pressure on the field. I get along with classmates & teammates. I'm also comfortable talking to adults and communicating with coaches. When it comes to football, I take pride in being highly coachable. I listen to what coaches say, learn quickly, and am always looking to get better. I try to bring a good attitude to school & sports.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am in YoungLife which has been a great experience. I will also be doing Beta Club this year. I volunteer a lot to help out at different school sporting events when they need help. I have been on the A/B Honor Roll every single time.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Playing sports & staying involved in school has helped me develop leadership and teamwork. Volunteering at different school sporting events and being part of YoungLife has shown me the importance of community service and spiritual beliefs. Staying on A/B Honor Roll while playing football & baseball takes a lot of discipline & time management skills. I am also very coachable.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I haven't really faced any major life challenges, but my biggest one right now is making the jump to Varsity high school football. The players are bigger, the game moves a lot faster, and there is a lot more information to memorize. Keeping calm and earning the trust of the older guys has been challenging for me, but it's forcing me to step up my game.

What type of college are you looking for?

I'm looking for a college that has strong academics and a competitive, winning football culture. In the classroom, I want a school that challenges me and sets me up for my life after football. On the field, I’m looking for supportive coaches that push me to my limit. I want to be part of a program where I can grow as a leader, learn from my coaches, and compete at a high level.
