Plucks the ball with ease on offense and defense. Very good at jamming the receiver at the line of scrimmage. Smooth and controlled back pedal and fluid hips to match the receiver’s cuts. Very good man coverage and good zone coverage. Very good read and reaction speed. One thing of note is his ability to tackle. Some corners shy away from tackling however Newbill succeeds and excels. Newbill is a DB that has great hands and was one of the top players in the state for INTs. He has good vision and anticipation, reading through his keys to the QB’s eyes and coming down with the pick. He has the ability to come down and make plays near the line of scrimmage and can make open field tackles. He does show the speed to be able to take away half of the field in coverage. He will be a player to keep on the radar to see if he is able to build on last seasons success.
