There are a lot of skilled WRs in the 3A class so a shut down CB is needed to stop them and Jay is that player. The recently named 1st Team DB just made his commitment to Lafayette as well.
Jay is a well built physical corner is can tackle just as well as he covers. He will come up and lay a smack on the ball carrier. He shows excellent instincts and quick reactions, making strong breaks on the ball to disrupt the pass. Jay can be a playmaker from the DB spot, able to get the INT and take it back to the house. He stays tight to the WRs hips and doesn’t let them get separation to get open. Jay will have to be an impact player shutting down the WRs in Class 3A for Sallie to have a run to the state finals this season.
Honored to be named 1st team all district defensive back! More work to be done! #finish @CoachDelleDonne @Coachmuggs @CoachWorrilow @tdhald @BradMyersTNJ @EdOBrienCFB pic.twitter.com/pG9wa1VPbC

Jay was key player on the defense all game long for Sallie. He is a yoked up good body DB who plays bigger than his size & will hit. Jay was quick to break on passes all game long and is a playmaker from the DB spot. That was proven by his Pick 6 he had during the game. Jay jumped the route getting in front of the receiver to get the ball and took it to the house. He had another real nice break on a pass earlier the game as well where he almost brought in the interception & may have been able to that that one back all the way too. Jay shows good instincts and reactions/timing on when to make a play on the ball. He tracks the ball well in the air, stays in phase, and will turn & run with WR before locating the ball.
Jay is also a high academic prospect, carrying a 4.0 GPA and two FCS offers. I expect Jay to get plenty more looks from some FBS/FCS colleges if he continues this high level of play all fall long.
Big time players make big time plays in big time games! Pick 6 to start the season off!!! @CoachDelleDonne @Coachmuggs @TorreySmithWR @tdhald @EdOBrienCFB @BradMyersTNJ pic.twitter.com/Fyt7i7nNAA

Overview: Burrell is a tough cornerback who lines any and everywhere – either side, boundary, field, and/or slot. His speed and play-strength allow him to matchup with receivers of different shapes and sizes. He also has a nose for the football and the hands to match, routinely coming up with forced fumbles, fumble recoveries, interceptions, and pass breakups. Even in the open field he can keep contain and/or make the tackle. Burrell projects as a great nickel corner prospect, but he could also excel as an outside corner or free safety.
