at the LB spot. Bernas is a flying LB that was not afraid to be aggressive and trusted his eyes a lot when teams would run many moving parts at his defense. Many times, Bernas was able to fly right through the backfield and make critical TFLs on the QBs or RBs. What I loved to see was the communication factor that Bernas was able to bring to the table on film that I saw on multiple occasions. This is a LB that plays with a lot of speed, leverage, range, and a high running motor. After every tackle Bernas makes, his energy shows off to the defense. The closing quickness to come downhill to shoot the gap was the defining factor in Bernas’ game and what allowed this Pittsford Mendon defense to make big stops.

Bernas is a really twitchy and agile LB prospect. He needs to add some weight and strength to his frame but has a really quick trigger downhill and flashes some high-level burst and closing speed. He is more of a block evader than he is a block shedder. Bernas finds space in gaps and is able to get through with his plus athleticism. Also a strong wrestler, Bernas shows consistent tackling technique and is effective tackling in space.

is one of the top names in western New York in this class. Bernas played linebacker for Pittsford and although only 5’11 185lbs Bernas has great athleticism and his instincts are much further along than you would expect a freshman’s to be. Bernas lives in the backfield and consistency showcases the ability to make plays coming off the edge or firing through inside gaps. Bernas is a great athlete who can still develop as an athlete and grow into more typical linebacker measurable. The skillset is there, and the size is close but as only a freshman time is on Bernas side.

is everything you want in a prospect or a veteran linebacker and he is only a freshman. Bernas will get bigger than his current 5-11, 185lb frame and that will only make him a stronger prospect for the next level. Quick and instinctive Bernas makes really solid reads as a linebacker. He also is a really solid tackler, which comes to no surprise considering he also is a really solid wrestling prospect. Bernas has the athleticism of the modern linebacker that teams covet while also showing a nose for the football and willingness to make the gritty plays.
