Another athletic-type defensive end that Montclair is fortunate to have is Jarius Davis Jarius Davis 5'10" | 200 lbs | DL Montclair | 2025 State NJ . Last fall Davis was credited with 54 tackles (24 solo), 11 TFL, 4.5 sacks, 3 FF, and 1 FR. His athleticism allows him to redirect well – something the Mounties defense accents from Davis’ game – as he is used as a backside bender very often, making sure to only do so flat down the line of scrimmage. Similarly, he also plays the mesh point well, applying the surf technique, when facing option teams. When closing in on either quarterbacks or rushers from the backside, Davis looks to make a havoc play by punching and attacking the ball. When he is not getting home on quarterbacks Davis is privy to matching the hand as he deflects many pass attempts. Like his bookend teammate Quiros, I would encourage Davis to spill oncoming kick out blockers. Right now we see Davis display his athleticism to work outside-in to make a tackle; however, utilizing a spill and u-turn might be something more sound that colleges would look for. Having a variety of both on film would be a big plus.
