About Jared

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I perform my job to the best of my abilities. I do my best to memorize the plays and pay close attention during film so that I am adequately prepared. I listen to my coaches' instructions and offer feedback if I feel it's important. Otherwise, I try to set the play up as best as I can, keep my eye on the play and make sure to contain the run and stop the ball.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My favorite saying is "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard." I have been taught that although I'm naturally athletic, nothing is a given and I have to work hard if I want to be successful. I do my best to be a good person and get the job done in everything I do. I enjoy the outdoors and like to be physical. Some people say I'm quiet, but I'm actually a happy, fun guy.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I volunteer with San Juan Rotary Club, a civic organization that my mother belongs to. I have volunteered with them since I was able to walk and still participate now that I am in my teens. This year, I helped with Angel Tree which focuses on providing Christmas gifts to children and seniors who wouldn't get them. I compete on the school Bowling team and also ride motocross.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

You can't be successful in football if you aren't a good teammate so I have definitely learned how to work well with others. I lead by example and work just as hard or harder than my teammates. My mother has taught me a lot about serving others so I do my best to help those who are less fortunate and to make my community a better place.

What type of college are you looking for?

I would like a college that offers a quality education and that has a football program with coaches that have a strong vision for their program.
