Expert Analysis
Matt DeBary | Prep Redzone Scout
The youngest of Worth County’s impressive wide receivers last year, Nelson made a giant impact as a sophomore in 2024 as he hauled in 27 passes for 452 yards and six touchdowns. He’s one of the fastest receivers in the area regardless of class with enough speed and explosiveness to score from anywhere on the field. As good as he was last year, look for Nelson to have an even bigger junior season and be one of the region’s most productive wideouts. He’s ranked in the latest update as the No. 36 WR prospect and the No. 265 overall prospect in the state.

One of the top overall playmakers in Albany, Nelson brings plenty of speed and a knack for sneaking behind defensive backs. Whether he’s streaking down the field vertically or helping in the screen and short passing game, Nelson brings big-time speed and will only improve more and more over the next several months. The 5-foot-11 175-pounder is coming off a strong sophomore season where he caught 27 passes for 452 yards and six touchdowns. His best football is still ahead of him and he could see some college opportunities come his way with a big junior season next fall.
