About James

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I play QB in a spread style offense. It’s largely shotgun, but also under center and I regularly pass and run in our offense. I’m equally comfortable passing in the pocket, or throwing on a roll out or on the run. I’ve also played RB and WR for my team on offense, and have been a starter on defense at DB.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I recognize the importance of my role as a leader on my team, and I love to get excited and celebrated great plays. But when things are tougher, I’m not a yeller, and don’t typically yell at my teammates to try to motivate them. I try to lead by example, and try to help make plays to rally us. I also love to set a target and try to reach it. It’s hard to distract me once I focus on what I want.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Chosen as President of my church youth group. Member of Rams Council, a leadership organization in our town, where we learn leadership skills, and work to promote drug free lifestyles with our peers.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Growing up I had a condition where my thumb fingers couldn’t straighten. Over time it was difficult and painful and led to me having to have surgeries. There were complications with the surgery. But with time and rehab, I was ultimately able to have them fixed and to use them.

What type of college are you looking for?

Preferably four year colleges, with high academics. I realize the value of a good education, and the opportunities it can create in the future. I’d like to be at a college that would give me the best opportunities. I’d also like to play at the highest level, and wish to be at a school that allows that path - the best of both worlds.
