Not exactly known as a football factory in recent years, Columbia’s Jalen Holmes Jalen Holmes 5'11" | 175 lbs | DB Columbia | 2028 State NJ is looking to change that narrative. Holmes will absolutely stick ball carriers who are in front of him in the short game. As a pass defender, he is a risk taker as has shown to undercut passes and want to make huge plays. Mostly a corner, he is aggressive to the point where he will absolutely abandon his force responsibility. Athleticism and ball skills are a key part to Holmes’ game as well. We see him make plays on the ball moving backwards and has soft hand with quick reactions to win the tip drill. Tackling is a mixed bag for Holmes. At moments we see him make a textbook, form-fitting shoulder tackle; whereas at other moments he fails to breakdown, come to balance, and reaches for arm tackles. Either way, Holmes is a solid ball player that I personally prefer at safety rather than corner.
