Barnwell, has continued to impress also this season, putting together some good tape, and quality performances in Section Nine. He has his Goldbacks squad sitting at 3-1 with a close loss to PSAL Curtis early in the season. A upset win against Cornwall Central and tough games against Middletown and Monroe-Woodbury stand ahead for the Goldbacks as they look to sit up top Section Nine.

Barnwell through tape, has looked poised, moving through his progressions and getting the ball downfield with ease. He has put air on the ball leading to some floats, but adding a tighter release should see that issue fixed. Barnwell is a riser in the rankings and despite a slow recruitment with no D1 Offers yet, I think they are coming. He shows excellent poise and is a detailed and strong playmaker before the snap. Showcasing good speed and a strong arm are the top points of his game and seeing him launch the ball and carve through defenses is an ideal trait I see in his game. His frame is a strong athletic build which can allow him to become a threat in the run game as well as a strong pocket passer. Barnwell is a kid I hope proves me right this season, and college coaches should be calling.

Barnwell is a true dual-threat QB, who has good speed and legs. He is a creator and works best outside the pocket, where he can launch the ball, or escape for a massive gain. I like what he brings to the table with his mechanics, as the ball releases purely and efficiently. His strength and accuracy are good as well, as he can carve through defenses and throw players open with anticipation, while hitting all three levels of the field. He is a highly intelligent prospect who utilizes his understanding of defenses to his advantage down the field.

Barnwell is one of the best athletes in this class; he has the speed and change of direction to avoid guys in the pocket and make plays with his legs.

Barnwell shows some nice touch and ball placement as a thrower. I liked a lot of his back pylon targets in the red zone, and he shows on tape that he can throw on the run. Most of his throws are in the sub-40-yard range, so you don’t get a true feel for his arm strength, but he shows nice touch and accuracy throughout his tape.
