At 5’9″ and 185 pounds, he plays with a compact, explosive build that allows him to excel in the short-to-intermediate areas while showing surprising competitiveness in contested situations. Ortega consistently separated in the slot and on short-to-intermediate routes. He runs smooth, efficient routes with excellent change-of-direction quickness and very quick feet. His footwork allows him to create immediate separation off the line and at the top of routes. Soft, reliable hands were on display throughout the event – he rarely dropped passes and showed the ability to secure the ball in traffic or on contested throws. He tracks the ball exceptionally well, adjusting to throws behind him or high-pointing when needed. Versatility was a major plus; coaches saw him align in multiple spots (slot, outside, motion) and produce in each. In 7v7 settings, his ability to find creases in zone and win quick releases made him a reliable chain-mover and red-zone threat.

On the defensive side, Ortega was equally impressive. He showed excellent coverage skills in both man and zone. Quick feet and smooth hips allowed him to mirror receivers tightly without getting beat on breaks. He maintained leverage and stayed in phase through the route. His “nose for the football” was evident – Ortega was consistently around the ball, breaking on throws with good anticipation and finishing plays. Coaches looking for a reliable, versatile piece who can contribute early in the slot or nickel should have Ortega high on their spring/summer watch lists.

Jadiel does some of everything for his team. On offense, he is a dual threat QB that has a quick release and can drive the ball downfield. He also can get to the sticks or the end zone with his feet and shows ability to change directions quickly or break tackles. On defense, he shows good field vision, and can break on the ball with speed. Undersized, but plays bigger than his measurements, and is versatile to contribute in all phases of the game. He should use this offseason to continue to hone done his position and get as many reps as he can. He is versatile and needs to continue to fine tune his skills to take his game to the next level.

I have been following this player for quite some time and he continues to impress. Jadiel is a versatile athlete that can do just about everything on the field. He runs sharp routes, makes tough catches, or can lock up any receiver. He plays with a high motor and even higher IQ. He has good speed, feet, hips and hands, and can play corner, safety, or nickel. I love watching him work, he is special.
