Overview: Rodgers is a rangey defensive back with alignment versatility. Whether he’s the single-high safety or lined up to the field, he covers a ton of ground to protect the backend. And when it’s time to make a play, he soars through the air for the takeaway. Rodgers can also come up a little closer and clamp down on inside receivers in man/cover 0 looks. Despite not having the biggest frame, he’s more than willing to step up as the free hitter in the alley or to make cleanup tackles in pursuit. Rodgers projects as a free safety with scheme versatility.

His highlights open with a textbook play in quarters coverage—he stays deeper than the deepest, tracks a deep ball 40 yards downfield, and returns the interception for over 30 yards. On another pick, he reads the quarterback’s eyes while covering a slot receiver on a post route, then breaks in front of the pass for a clean interception. His third pick shows accurate centerfield instincts, such as staying patient and under control before jumping a post route. Rodgers also stands out in red zone coverage, where his smooth footwork and ability to remain balanced out of his backpedal allow him to blanket receivers in off-man situations. He’s a reliable tackler and shows a quick closing burst, which helps him in coverage and support. However, at 6’0″ and 170 pounds, he’ll need to bulk up to handle bigger, more physical players at the college level. Still, even when matched against tight ends, he competes well and shows no fear. I’m impressed with Rodgers, and I think he’s a high-upside safety prospect.
