I have sung Jacob’s praises for awhile, because I am a massive believer in at he can do. His versatility on the interior of the offensive line brings a ton of value. A true plug and play C/OG. He has worked hard and carries his 300+lbs much better than when I first discovered him. He’s a physical and aggressive road grader who loves to get out and take 2-3 defenders out of the play on run plays. He is much improved in his passing sets, showing off real agility and technique. Great punch and hand placement, along with good balance, a wide base and a strong lower half. Someone is going to get a massive piece to their offensive line soon.

The Spring Lake offensive line has had some turnover, and I think it’s time for

to step up and be the undisputed leader! Troast has put out a lot of good film, and has showed out at camps and showcases over the offseason. I love his aggression, technique and ability to completely overwhelm opponents. As far as offensive linemen go in West Michigan, Troast is one of the best of the bunch. I am extremely excited to step into the role of being the anchor of the offensive line unit for Spring Lake this season.

Jacob is a high-riser and someone we at Prep Redzone are very high on. He did well during our last camp, showing standout power and excellent balance. Jacob does a great job of keeping a low, balanced center of gravity, shuffling his feet, and staying anchored.
I need to finally get a good in-person look at Jacob. He’s definitely looking like a college prospect, but I’m not sure what level I like him at just yet.

Jacob is being rewarded for a superb showing at our Stock Up Showcase back in December. With his performance, and other offensive linemen from Spring Lake developing nicely, I am really starting to like what I see from the Spring Lake offensive line program.
Jacob is a strong kid with the aggression and technique to really baffle defensive linemen. He does a good job in pass blocking situations to shuffle his feet and stay low so he doesn’t give up an inch. In the run game, his highlight reel is an all you can eat pancake buffet. Down blocks and reach blocks alike, this dude make defenders pay. He has a pretty darn good first step and brings a ton of power, even getting out to the 2nd level and clearing a path for ball carriers. I will be really interested to see what he can do next season, as his ceiling is very high.

Jacob was easily one of the most physical kids in attendance on Sunday. His testing numbers were fine, but 1 on 1s showed me everything I hoped I would see. He uses his big frame at nearly 320 to just anchor down and not be budged. He still has the ability an change of direction to shuffle and stay with someone, but as an interior lineman I love seeing him be able to really use his raw power. Jacob is well on his way to being the next great IOL from Spring Lake.

Jacob is a big kid with a ton to like. First off, he is already at a great size, and he has the physicality and aggression to go with it. He fires off, gets underneath the pads and drives like crazy. He keeps his legs moving and is relentless. He has all of the tools to eventually be an elite interior OL prospect with a very high floor, and I will definitely be watching!
