Expert Analysis
Rob Howe | Prep Redzone Scout
Smith announced his arrival in fine fashion as a Forest City sophomore in 2025. The defensive back/receiver delivered 24.5 tackles, 16 of which were of the solo variety. He registered 7.5 tackles for loss and a half sack. Smith also caught four passes for 14 yards, averaged 18.0 yards on eight kick returns and took his lone punt return back five yards. A good all-around athlete, Smith averaged 7.0 points and 4.2 rebounds as a starter on the varsity basketball team this winter. We don’t have a lot of on-line video highlights displaying his exploits on the gridiron. His Hudl page does house a smattering of football clips along with hoops tape. The football footage reveals a downhill safety or slot corner with long arms and an ease in changing directions. They help make him effective in coverage. Smith breaks down the ball carrier in run support, finishing plays with technically-sound tackling. The skill set also works well on all units of the special teams. Smith is one to watch moving forward.
