Chevez is an insanely dynamic player, showing tremendous burst in his first 5 steps and reaching another speed in the open field. He has some of the shiftiest footwork in the area and will embarrass defensive backs in press. Chevez understands leverage and knows how to attack defenders. With his speed and quickness he gives opposing players very little chance to successfully cover him.

Chevez is a sharp route runner, getting out of his routes with twitch and urgency. He gets open with tempo and gets by defenses with his skill. He has displayed great vision after the catch, allowing his blocks to set up and accelerating through lanes. Chevez will make the contested catch when given the opportunity down the field as well. He was so impressive last season it was easy to forget that he was only a sophomore. Chevez hauled in 58 catches for 989 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns, leading the way for his team. Special player with an incredibly bright future.

acob is a wide receiver who continues to develop into a dependable playmaker with the ability to impact the game at multiple levels. He shows solid route running, good timing in his breaks, and the awareness to find soft spots in coverage. On film, he’s comfortable working underneath routes but also has the ability to stretch the field when given space, making him a versatile option in the passing attack.

What stands out is his consistency—he competes every rep and does a good job securing the football in traffic while staying productive after the catch. His steady development has translated into recruiting attention, earning offers from New Mexico, UTSA, and Baylor. As he continues to refine his game, Jacob has the tools to keep building momentum as a reliable offensive weapon.

Shifting things outside, Chevez is a route technician with the speed and athleticism to break off long plays down the sideline. The highlight reel wideout showcases great body balance control and ability to high point the football. Jacob excels at creating separation by dropping his weight and exploding out of the top of his routes. Chavez also has the vet-like ability to find the creases in the defense, where he then uses his 4.5 speed to accelerate downfield after the catch. Jacob already has over 700 total yards and 11 TDs eight games into his breakout sophomore year. Expect him to continue to ball out for the Cougars as the season winds down and pick up some offer interest this Winter.
