was on our shortlist of prospects we wanted to see in person this weekend. Drake is a prospect that we’ve watched on film and he’s had some outstanding production over the last two seasons. But Drake immediately passed the eye test and he put on a show this weekend from a pure arm talent perspective. Drake is also an outstanding athlete and similar to Chism, who was our QB MVP, Drake only showcased 50 percent of what makes him an absolute nightmare for opposing defenses. Drake is just as dangerous as a runner as he is as a passer. But on Saturday, it was all about Drake’s arm and he performed really well.

is one of them. This young playmaker simply didn’t make many mistakes last season as he would throw for over 1,600 yards and 22 touchdowns with only 1 interception on the season. He would also add over 600 yards on the ground and turned around and played defense as well with six sacks from the defensive end position. The Drake to Drake combination in the backfield is going to be one of the best QB-RB duos in Class B and in the state this season when you look at their production last season and what they could do this fall. Drake was the runaway pick for district Newcomer Of The Year and we’re looking forward to seeing what he does for an encore.

is next up on this breakdown and we were really impressed with the 8-man standout in his first year of play. Drake played quarterback for Weleetka last season and he was incredibly efficient with the ball. The numbers back that up as he only threw one interception all season and he was a true dual-threat at the quarterback position. But the thing that stood out the most with his film was his size and athletic ability. He simply doesn’t look like a freshman on film. Especially when you compare him to other players that are lined up near him. And then when it’s time to flip that switch and turn into an athlete, he does it and can make plenty of plays with his legs. Like we say with all freshmen, it’s early. But Drake is off to a great start and we want to see more of him moving forward to figure out what his natural position would be.
