There was some question marks around Carlson just given the fact he’s coming back from a major knee injury. When I saw him over the summer watching the Ferndale basketball team and saw how much muscle mass he put on, I knew he was going to have another solid year. It took him a little bit to get back in the groove of things but is now playing like a top player on both sides of the ball. Against Mount Vernon HS, we saw a classic Carlson performance. He rushed for 138 yards and 5 touchdowns. He is definitely 100% healthy and will be a problem for teams as the late part of the season inches in.

Isaiah is having a fantastic senior year after coming back from a major knee injury. He’s showing everyone that he hasn’t lost a step at all. He still has his burst of speed in the second level but he has also added a lot of upper body weight, being able to run people over more. He embraces contact nicely, being able to bounce off of it and gain extra yardage. Against Marysville-Pilchuk week 5, Carlson ran the ball 23 times for 197 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns to go with it. He’s a standout on the defensive side too as a linebacker, he contributed 5 tackles and defended 2 passes during the game.

Isaiah is back this season fully healthy and ready to go after recovering from a knee injury he suffered last season. He’s definitely a top RB not only in the NWC, but also the whole state. He has great size standing 6’2″ and weighing roughly 205. He easily breaks tackles by running through the defender or using his elusiveness to juke by. His patience with the ball is the one thing that stands out to me the most. He’s always making sure he hits the correct, open hole. Defensively he’s a fantastic LB, reading the opposing QB easily. He will be a BIG part of this Golden Eagles offense this season.
