The workhorse out of Grantsburg is still out there on the hunt for his college home. The 6′ 205 lbs senior has the frame to match his workload from 2024. Ian brings a very well rounded game. He can carry the ball between the tackles, break tackles with his contact balance and leg drive. The senior is able to get out of the backfield and catch the ball, then get up field and make plays in space. Burkman also has enough speed to crush a defense when he gets into the open field or outside of contain. Ian proved he was a productive playmaker in 2024 while helping Grantsburg make a run to a State Championship Game appearance. Check out the highlights from the senior RB.

Yards were tough to come by for the Grantsburg rushing attack, but luckily they have a senior RB who doesn’t shy away from earning the tough yards. Ian has a powerful frame supported by a strong lower body so that he can churn his way through contact and push the pile in his favor. Ian was a downhill rusher during the State Finals who was able to quickly find lanes to hit. I was also impressed by his play out in space as a receiver. Ian has natural hands and was able to quickly burst upfield after catching the check down or screen. The well built senior RB offers some three down versatility with his inside/outsid running and receiving abilities. Don’t sleep on the senior talent still available, including Ian.

The senior RB/LB out of Grantsburg put on a show in Week 1 to help them beat Amery 31-19. Ian dominated the game with the ball in his hands. He did such a great job of seeing the field, setting up defenders, finding weak points to attack, and utilizing blocks at the line and downfield. Ian also showed that he was an effective downfield receiving threat. Burkman has an intriguing running style too. He has the agility to make people miss but overall the senior runs with that power and physicality needed to handle a big workload and set the tone that the defense is going to have to gang tackle him if they want to slow him down. The 6′ 205 lbs athlete is built for a big workload and has proven he thrives with it. Don’t sleep on this senior.

. He spent the Mega Camp in River Falls checking a lot of boxes for the position. The incoming senior checked in at 6′ and a clean 197 lbs. Telling me that he has the frame to be able to handle a three down workload. That workhorse frame also has the athleticism needed to be effective with the ball in his hands. Ian demonstrated how explosive his lower body is with a 34.3″ vertical, 9’4″ broad jump, he proved his balance and acceleration with a 4.44 pro agility. The 4.62 40 also is sufficient to get the job done when he hits the open field. It was great to get these numbers for a back that has piled up the production running inside and outside the tackles. The tape is there. The production is there. Now we are confident the measurables are there. Don’t sleep on this kid.
