Ian Andrews
About Ian
Expert Analysis
Mark Johnson | Prep Redzone Scout
Ian is a hidden gem in the super deep Class of 2024. The 5’10” 180 lbs DB/RB has compiled years of varsity experience, culminating in this senior season where he represents and leads his team as a captain. The State Champ is another Regis athlete who stood out with his play on offense and defense. Ian has the most experience at DB, which is why I came away very impressed by his offensive work. The senior demonstrated strong ball carrier vision to find tiny seams to burst through. It was also good to see his natural elusiveness in tight quarters between the tackles. He was a slippery ball carrier. On defense, the senior plays in a lot of zone coverage that gives him the responsibility of covering a deep third of the field. This leads to him being put in a lot of one on one downfield battles. Andrews’ aggressiveness at the catch point to break up passes has long been a strength of his. He times his jumps well, and does a good job staying tight to his man downfield. Don’t sleep on the two way senior.

Stats: 6 Tackles, 1 FF, 1 INTrnIt is quick film, but the senior DB/ATH continues to make big plays in the defensive backfield for Regis HS. His agility and change of direction in zone coverage jumped off the tape a couple times. Despite the club on his hand, Ian was able to reel in an INT with his one good hand. Andrews is one of the top prospects on a talented Eau Claire Regis roster. Keep an eye out for more highlights from him.

Stats: 2 TacklesrnIan has been increasing his impact on a yearly basis for Regis. This season he worked his way up to significant playing time on both sides of the ball. CB is where I have liked him best throughout his career. The 5’11” 180 lbs junior plays a lot of zone coverage in the Regis defense. They have him cover a deep third, but will man up when he has one WR to his side. Ian does a good job of transitioning from his backpedal to closing on the ball. His vast experience at CB has given him a noticeable confidence as well. He will line up with anybody. His growth at the position over the past few years has been very noticeable, and it has me excited for his final campaign next fall. Keep an eye on the junior. He is sure to have his biggest impact yet next fall.
