The Ridgevue signal caller has been one of the up and coming names since last year and has seemed to pick up right where he left off behind center. He is a bigger framed kid that is strong in the pocket, throws the deep ball well and spreads it out consistently to his weapons on the outside. He has been on a hot streak so far to start the year and has thrown for over 640 yards through only two games and at this rate will be near the 3,000 yard passing mark by the end of the year. He has no shortage of weapons to throw to and does a nice job spreading it around and leading his receivers open while fitting it into tight coverage.

Schmittel is coming off a nice Junior season and checks into our rankings update as a top ten signal caller across Idaho. He is a pocket passer that moves well within the tackles while keeping his eyes downfield and can move through his progressions quickly and throws on schedule throws and accurate deep balls with touch and velocity over the top. He is a quick processor that can buy time with his legs and throw off- platform if need be without losing much zip or accuracy. He threw for nearly 2,000 yards and rushed for another 200+ and is one of the top statistical passers returning in 2026 and is another kid that should draw D3+ attention.
