The final defender to cover in Part I of this series, Hunter Chlodnicki Hunter Chlodnicki 5'8" | 180 lbs | LB Sparta | 2025 State NJ is another talented linebacker coming from far up north in Sparta. Another destructive force, Hunter is terrorizing to opponents as his quick reflexes and instincts elevates him above his competition. What sets Hunter apart from other linebackers in the state is his ability to pounce at an opportunity when he sees an opening.
Hunter is a constant presence in the backfield. He can get skinny and dart between blockers to get into the backfield before anyone even notices the play’s ending. On top of that, Hunter absolutely flies to the ball carrier. He can truly cover sideline to sideline, able to pursue the runner with impeccable angles to prevent them from gaining positive yardage. Hunter may be a smaller linebacker, but that shouldn’t prevent him from playing at the next level. He is such a natural athlete that he could easily reposition himself as a strong safety or a rover. Either way, Hunter is arguably the most impressive hidden gem in all of Northern NJ.

Chlodnicki played like a man possessed in the 28-12 victory at Newton. The second of two Spartans, Sparta’s junior linebacker made 20 tackles and 4 tackles for loss. Most impressively, of Chlodnicki’s 20 tackles 15 of them were solo stops.

Chlodnicki is disciplined in committing to his run read and then retreating to his pass drop. He is a physical blitzer, absolutely blowing up lesser o-linemen who try to get in his path. When Chlodnicki is on the front-side of a play, he makes quick reads to fight over the top; conversely, when the play is ran away from his, Chlodnicki has shown flashes of shooting the backside window in hopes to undercut the play. For Chlodnicki to take his game to another level he is best served to loosen up his hips. This will improve explosiveness and mobility.
Chlodnicki is an enforcer-type in the middle of Sparta’s defense. With him lining up across the ball from them, offenses ought to tread lightly.
