When we were talking about Apache’s offense, we mentioned that senior quarterback

is going to come into this season as one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in Class A-2. He enjoyed a breakout season as a junior, becoming one of the top overall playmakers in Class A and we’re fired up to see what he can do this season. Last year, Herrin would run for nearly 1,500 yards while also adding over 1,000 yards passing. It’s not crazy to think that Herrin could be a quarterback that ends up accounting for over 3,000 yards of total offense this season if he takes that next step. He had some of the best individual performances last season and it felt like they came every week.

Finally in Class A, it’s hard to overlook what Apache junior quarterback

has been able to accomplish over the last few weeks. The Warriors have won three games in a row with two of them coming over ranked opponents in Ringling and Mangum. And as it stands right now, Herrin has been featured on our weekly “Top Performer” post for outstanding individual performances in three straight games. Herrin has been a run-first quarterback for Apache but over the last two weeks, he’s been able to beat defenses with his arm when it’s necessary. In the last three weeks alone, Herrin has totaled over 700 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground. He’s also added over 200 passing yards and a handful of touchdowns through the air. We say it every year but it deserves repeating. Class A is a class that a team can go on a championship run if they have at least one star, specifically at the quarterback position. Herrin might be just that for Apache this season.

has been on this feature almost every week over the last month. He had another great performance as the Warriors beat Hobart 40-26 on Friday night. Herrin continues to be dominant on the ground from the quarterback position. He carried the ball nearly 40 times on the night for just over 300 yards and four touchdowns. Herrin didn’t just run the ball. He also went 5-8 for 134 yards and a touchdown. And Herrin didn’t just tear it up on the offensive side of the ball. He came up with an interception on the defensive side of the ball. Herrin has quickly established himself as one of the best players in Class A this season.

finds himself on this breakdown after Apache beat another top ten team. Last week, it was a shutout win over Ringling. This week, it was a 48-28 win over Mangum and the Warriors keep climbing the ranks in Class A. Herrin put up even more impressive numbers as they lit up the scoreboard in the win over Mangum. Herrin did almost all of his damage on the ground against Ringling. Against Mangum, he was also 5-5 for nearly 100 yards and a touchdown. He would then add well over 200 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 22 carries on the night.

had a really strong performance on the ground as he would finish the game with nearly 200 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries. Apache’s shutout of the perennial powers from Ringling certainly got our attention and Apache should be taken more seriously as a contender in Class A. We’re going to find out just how serious they are this week as they go on the road to face Mangum. And as we mentioned earlier in this breakdown, the Tigers aren’t lacking playmakers either so this top ten clash will be one of the better match-ups of week four.
