Grayson Carter is a returning starter for Evansville Memorial. Quick read and reaction, very instinctive linebacker who flashes some twitch and a nose for the ball. Carter has adequate closing speed, can elude blockers and make plays behind the line of scrimmage. Strong run defender with a nose for the ball. Need to see more clips to evaluate him as a pass rusher.

At 6-foot-1, 205 pounds, he is very instinctive, flows to the ball, takes great pursuit angles and is a proven open-field tackler. He can fit the run, keep his shoulders parallel and play with adequate bend without breaking contain. Also plays lacrosse, high academic prospect.

Carter burst onto the scene for Reitz this year and posted triple-digit tackles. He’s a sideline-to-sideline LB with good vision and instincts. He always seems to be right by the ball and plays through the whistle. I appreciate high-motor guys who don’t make simple mistakes. He’s capable in coverage as well, which is ideal for an inside backer. The instincts and size are there, and now he’s got the production and in-game reps. With 105 tackles, 5 TFLs, and 3 recovered fumbles in year 1 starting, he’s set himself up for a big senior year.
