About Grady

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Fast, physical, and will not give up on a play. Will always do what is best for the team.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Disciplined and focused. I routinely study game film to ensure I am prepared for both practice and games. Always looking for opportunities to improve physically. This allows me to be the best I can be on the field to help my team win.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Consistent Honor Roll or Principal's List. Lejeune High School Freshman Scholar

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

A skill that I have developed but still needs work is communication. This is important as a leader to motivate my teammates but also to communicate what I am seeing either on defense or offense to hopefully put my team in a position to be successful.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Biggest challenge I faced was my first game as a freshman at Pender High School. Pender is a fast and hard running football team and the game challenged both mentally and physically. I did not play well, but it motivated me to get better and from watching film, talking with my coaches and teammates I was able to turn a lot of negatives into positives and did well the rest of the season.

What type of college are you looking for?

The type of college I am looking for is one that sees value in me as a contributing factor to their program both academically and athletically.

Mahaffey led all freshman tight ends last season with 27 catches and 367 yards as a receiver. While he made his biggest impact on the defensive side of the ball (and we have him ranked there) he’s going to continue to make an impact on offense as a reliable blocker and receiver. I like his game and think he’ll continue to thrive.
