My final 2025 defensive prospect to keep an eye on in Week 1 in Missouri is
Gionni McBride

. McBride lines up mainly in the nickel where he is very impressive in man coverage. He does a great job of opening up and running with receivers to mirror their routes, staying in their hip pocket the whole way. When the ball is thrown his way, he has shown the ability to break on the ball with perfect time to come away with the interception and then use his speed to return the ball the other way for a big play. Gionni currently holds offers from Kansas, Akron, Army, Missouri State, UT Martin, and Northern Iowa, and I expect more to come his way as he is a Power 4 caliber prospect.

has solidified himself as a top 2025 defender out of Kansas City. He went on game day visits to Kansas and Mizzou and also received an offer from Akron last fall. Expect more schools outside of Kansas City to offer Gionni before his senior season begins. Gionni displays quick feet and a fluid change of direction mirroring receivers in man coverage. Gionni’s length and athleticism allows him to blanket receivers in the redzone and disrupt 50/50 balls. A great combination of size, ball skills, and long speed suggests Gionni has all the tools to thrive on an island in college.

Another Missouri-bred 2025 prospect seeing their summer recruiting grind bring fruitful rewards,

hails from Kansas City and North Kansas City High School and boasts eye-catching size as a 6’3 CB that really fires up collegiate DB coaches and recruiters. His recruitment popped off near the end of June when the Kansas Jayhawks offered a P5 scholarship out of the Big12, and he’s got the chance to shoot his stock into the stratosphere during his upcoming junior campaign. Possesses the tools to be one of the most lockdown CBs in Missouri and possibly the Midwest, as he’s noticeably long and shows off great COD skills and super loose hips. McBride does a good job of staying square, not opening the gate, and getting hands on WRs in their releases with well-timed strikes, but does have fluid hips and can flip them quickly to get back into proper position. He also shows the speed that can easily stay on top of WRs going vertical, the ability to mirror WRs well and gets into their hip pocket quickly, and his length helps him play the ball well at the catch point. The toolsy CB is also solid at shedding blocks and a willing tackler. The size and length will catch the eye of his evaluators, and the athletic tools and technique will get them to stay. Look for him to pick up more offers this fall.

is an incoming junior defensive back that is very high on my radar. He lines up on the outside at corner where he is very impressive in man coverage. McBride plays with an impressive amount of physicality, showing the ability to jam receivers off the line of scrimmage. He also does a great job of opening up and running with receivers to mirror their routes. When the ball is thrown his way, he does a great job of breaking on the ball to either break up the pass or come away with an interception. Gionni recently picked up his first offer from Kansas and I expect more to come his way as he is a Power 5 caliber defensive back.
