is a DE/OLB hybrid player who was a nightmare to go against as he was able to chase down the ball-carrier and make a big play in the backfield with ease throughout last season. Stanton recorded 40 tackles, 14.5 TFLs, 10.5 sacks, a fumble recovery, and an interception last season. Stanton did a really good job with his pursuit angles, showing great timing on his bursts, and he rarely let the ball-carrier progress for extra yardage upon contact. Stanton has good length and speed, and he’s a well-rounded defender giving support in the pass-rush, run-stop, and in coverage. Stanton has been a clear standout not just in Class A, but across all of Iowa, and he could be on the radar toward having a huge senior campaign.
Stanton is a prospect deserving of more college attention. He has a projectable frame that can add mass without taking away athleticism and quickness. Stanton makes plays coming off of the edge. He gets the jump on opponents off the snap. Stanton looks fluid at linebacker, where he closes on the ball under control with good balance. He can drop into coverage effectively and uses his length to his advantage. Stanton racked up 14.5 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks last season. He could raise his stock with solid showings at spring and summer camps.
