Expert Analysis
Paul Gregorian | Prep Redzone Scout
Lavoie is one of the more impressive true hand in the dirt defensive ends that plays with exceptional technique and immediate hand violence at the POA. He is explosive out of his stance, has great block recognition and can take on pullers/double teams with ease, and shows he can play anywhere along the defensive front inside or on the edge. A two-way player that never left the field, he has plenty of high level playing experience heading into college and is going to be a late steal here for a next level program. His frame/wingspan and length/athleticism makes him a very intriguing prospect with a high ceiling and a lot to offer on either side of the ball.

Lavoie could be on either our edge list or defensive tackle list and offers very nice position versatility at the next level due to his athleticism, frame and size to be able to pack on more weight at the next level. He is a very heavy handed player with a quick strike, does a nice job controlling blockers with his hands and can violently shed and eat up blocks inside. Rushing the passer he has quick hands, good hip/shoulder turn and can collapse the pocket quickly and redirect. He is going to be a very nice late steal for a college program and could either be a 3-down edge or 4-down interior guy with plus length for the inside.

Lavoie is a strong, versatile defensive lineman with ideal length and a sturdy frame at 6’5” 240 lbs. and an 80” wingspan. He plays with power at the POA, holds his ground against double teams, and shows disciplined gap control. Off the snap, he’s explosive with quick hand placement and a violent disengage, allowing him to disrupt plays early at or behind the LOS. Against the run, he’s technically sound and effective at defeating blockings and redirecting down the line. As a pass rusher, he flashes power moves, short area burst, and surprising bend for his size. Possesses a lot of key traits to play multiple positions at the college and warrants more recruiting attention as a senior.
