Continuing to rave about Athey, as he holds a handful of offers and has a visit scheduled coming up here soon. A sure difference maker along both the OL and DL for Camp Verde that possesses excellent play strength and an understanding of leverage. A raw talent with a high development ceiling moving forward that can provide versatility along the OL & DL. Whoever lands this kid will be landing a gem.

Athey is the most underrated player in the entire state in my opinion and is a division 1 talent that I think every FCS and G5 school need to jump on. A raw talent with excellent play strength and football IQ that plays with a mean streak. Very adaptable player with the ability to play anywhere along both the DL and OL, and will excel wherever he lines up. He shows an excellent punch with violent hands on both sides of the ball, while flashing a nasty swim move as a defensive lineman- and does a great job utilizing his full arsenal, making it extremely difficult to manage as an OL, which is why he is double and triple teamed every week. I can speak personally that he is a very difficult kid to coach against, and is deserving of a division 1 opportunity. New Mexico made an in-person visit to Athey at Camp Verde as well this offseason.
