Williams is probably a couple of vertical inches away from being on a lot more colleges’ radars, but we’re here to tell you he’s probably not that far off anyway. The 5-foot-9, 210-pound middle linebacker brings some serious pop to a Tigers’ defense that will need even more of it this fall.
He averaged north of five tackles per game as a junior, and as he became even more comfortable with his spot, we also started to see a significant and consistent uptick in his ability to disrupt plays behind the line of scrimmage.
Williams’ pursuit ability is there. He might not be a blazer in the 40, but his lateral and straight-line quickness gets him exactly where he needs to be more often than not. The fact that he also played a hand in four turnovers (three forced fumbles, one interception) also tells us he’s got big-time playmaker written all over him.
