Hawthorne plays aggressive at the point of attack, he get hands on his opponent early in the receivers routes and his ability to lock in at the snap allows him to close down throwing lanes. EJ has clean footwork and gets into his backpedal with ease, which enables him to stick to receivers closely. During the 1v1 portion of the camp vs the wideouts, Hawthorne uses great leverage combined with the skill set to change directions quickly and he has the speed to turn, cut and run without giving up ground. EJ had a standout performance at the Select 50 Showcase and finished number fifteen in the Top 25 Rankings.
