Donovan Verges Donovan Verges 6'2" | 225 lbs | LB/EDGE Pell City | 2027 State AL has emerged as a key playmaker on Pell City’s defense, making tons of plays at LB/EDGE, dominating the middle of the field and the line of scrimmage. At ILB, Verges has excellent instincts and recognizes plays really well, he flies around the field and puts himself in great position to make plays against the run and pass. Verges plays with a ton of speed and pursuit that allows him to thrive off the edge as a pass rusher. On tape, he completely overwhelms OL with his speed and makes huge plays in the backfield- affecting the quarterback and the run game. One of the most impressive things I saw in Verges’ tape were his run fits- he does an amazing job closing down rushing lanes and taking down the ball carrier at or behind the line of scrimmage- it is incredibly hard to run the ball against him. Verges has seen his recruitment begin to open up over the last few weeks- he’s picked up offers from UAB, Jacksonville State, and Liberty, and has plenty more on the way soon.
