A must-know Mount Carmel freshman who is one of a handful of stud Caravan 2026s on the come-up in the Illinois prep football scene, Devon Armstrong Devon Armstrong 6'1" | 175 lbs | DB Kenwood | 2026 State IL already possesses good size at 6’1, 175 pounds and posted 35 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 FF, and a interception last fall in non-varsity action. As a safety/nickel hybrid, Armstrong was an asset in coverage from the slot or on the perimeter and more than capable of disrupting offenses as a box defender. He brings good speed to the table, can get out of his breaks well, and is a quality edge defender who knows who defends with leverage and can tackle in space. His frame and length make me really excited for his physical development and his ability to impact the run and pass game will prove very useful for his DCs at higher levels of competition. The Caravan’s freshman class is worth keeping an eye on.
