Deontae DeBrossard-Short
About Deontae
Expert Analysis
CJ Marable | Prep Redzone Scout
Deontae Short was one of the fastest players on the field, posting a 4.47 in the 40-yard dash, and his speed translated seamlessly into live drills. He showed burst and explosion during RB-specific work, hitting gaps with urgency. In RB/LB 1-on-1s, Short used speed and subtle route manipulation to create separation. Once the ball was in his hands, defenders had trouble closing space due to his acceleration. He was especially dangerous in the make-the-linebacker-miss drill, where his quick change of direction forced missed tackles. Short’s confidence grew as the camp progressed, and his playmaking ability became more evident. His combination of speed and competitiveness makes him a matchup problem at the next level.
