I’ll voice this again, it’s tough for any linebacker to succeed in setting like this one. QBs have ample time to throw the football, QBs have plenty of vision of the field, it’s relatively easy for great QBs to pick apart backers attempting to drop into zones.
This wasn’t the case when watching top-ten junior linebacker

. The Aliquippa star moved well laterally. Taylor was physical against any wideout/back attempting to cross his face. Vocal, and attentive, Taylor also served as a big body that QBs had to throw over, this being tough considering his height and reach. I don’t think of Taylor as an elite next-level pass-covering OLB, yet it’s nice to see him put his capabilities on display from time to time. Taylor recorded seven sacks for Aliquippa last Fall.

is an athletic edge player. He does a great job of using his hands to rip through offensive linemen. He is dripping with athleticism and speed that he is hard to block one-on-one for offensive tackles. He does an excellent job of chasing plays all over the field. He has a motor that never stops as he chases plays constantly. Taylor is also good against the run by keeping the contain and making tackles on the edge. Taylor is an excellent prospect in the 2026 class.

is a good athlete who shows excellent ability as a defensive lineman. He has excellent athletic ability and speed for a defensive lineman. Offensive linemen have a hard time reaching him because of how athletic he is. He is always chasing plays down all over the field. Finally, he has good pass-rushing moves and uses them well to put pressure on offensive linemen. Taylor is committed to West Virginia already as he has shown a ton of potential as a College Football prospect.

The West Virginia commitment is now 6-foot-2 and pushing 225-pounds. It was the first time I was able to watch Taylor in quite some time and came away impressed, agreeing with our ranking of him within our top-25. He went to the All-22 camp in State College this past weekend and won the MVP honors at linebacker.

Daiveon is on several FBS radars and has already received offers from Penn State, Pitt, Syracuse, Marshall, and Miami, OH. Taylor was the team leader a year ago with 17 sacks in ’22. Taylor is swift off of the snap, with the athleticism to go along with his strength. Davion is 6’1, 215 lbs, and moves well laterally at the LB position and redirects just as well at DE. He’s a good blitzer that’s also capable of guarding specialists in man situations. He has a good motor and is a punishing tackler overall. Taylor is well-suited to be a beast on special teams at the college level, and there truly is no telling how much bigger he will get. Taylor will be one of Coach Johnson’s weapons returning this season.

Daiveon did a variety of things well at the camp. I like his explosion out of his stance at DE. He has a big lower body, which leads me to believe that he will grow into his frame nicely. He moves well laterally and has a couple of levels to reach before obtaining maximum strength. Taylor has offers from Penn State, Marshall, and Miami, OH to date.
