Cruz made good throws during the event and did a good job fitting the ball into tight windows. He did a good job pressing downfield and taking the underneath option to get a new set of downs. He’s a signal caller who likes to take big shots. Seeing him take what the defense gives him has been nice to see the maturation and playing for the next down and snap.

Cruz debuts as the 33rd-ranked prospect in the class and the QB4. He was a player who looked good in the offseason with 7s events, and he was a player who had confidence in his game. He’s taken full advantage of his opportunities this year and has shown himself to be a signal caller with traits to like. He throws a nice football and works at all three levels. He isn’t afraid to stress a defense and push the ball downfield and all over the field. He processes quickly, has a compact delivery, and has good ball placement. He throws with a good touch and is a player who can extend the plays with his legs. He does well with keeping the offense ahead of the chains and works well within the system. He’s a complement to the offense and enhances the components around him. He has plenty of traits to like and has pieces to work with for a 2027 prospect. He should garner regional looks and is a player who is taking full advantage of his unexpected playing time. He brings a good calming influence to the offense, and the moment hasn’t seemed too big for him.

Christensen did a good job of keeping the offense ahead of the chains and maintaining a rhythem on offense. He did well at getting the ball to his playmakers and piecing together the offense and making them a cohesive unit. He did a good job of keeping the ball out of danger for most of the evening. He’s auditioning for the job next year and has done nothing wrong thus far.

Christensen gets another spot start, and he has done well this offseason in 7’s events, and he opened the season in fine fashion. He was decisive, operated within the system, and got the ball to his playmakers. He proved to be a valuable distributor. He has another tough task at hand, this time with an aggressive Orem defense. If he continues to place the ball well like he did last week, he should have another good week. He’s likely auditioning to be the guy next year, and from what we’ve seen, he’s someone who is more than capable of operating an offense and knowing where to go with the ball.
