Cruz has been a solid QB since his freshman year and has only improved each season. He’s got poise and seems never to be rushed in the pocket. His delivery is consistent, and he doesn’t try to do too much. I appreciate QBs who just try to run the offense and find the open man, and that’s where Cruz thrives. He plays in rhythm and always has.

Cruz is a very underrated quarterback. He is coming off a strong junior season, throwing for 2,483 yards (which led the Mid-State conference) and 25 touchdowns.

Cruz transferred this year and it was his first year in the Mooresville system. While his numbers dropped just a little bit, it’s likely because he’s still adjusting, and those numbers are still very solid. Cruz completed 58% of his throws for 2500 yards and 25 TDs through the air. He throws a nice ball, will have plenty of reps, and year 2 in the system could be huge.

Cruz made the transfer to Mooresville this season and it’s been an up-and-down season. Likely due to learning a new playbook and system, but he’s still been good. He’s got Mooresville on track and they looked good in round 1. Cruz can make all the throws, has the confidence, and mechanics. With his 4 passing TDs and 315 yards on Friday, they won 52-14.

Cruz is one of my favorite quarterbacks in the 2026 class, and when he’s on fire, he’s hard to slow down. He started the night hot and took the offense right down the field, hitting Bruhn for a TD. Cruz also had a few deep balls that were right on target and hit his target in stride. While THN staged the big comeback, it doesn’t take away from Cruz’s performance.

Cruz has continued to develop in just about every phase of the game. His physical build continues to improve as well as minor things such as footwork and hip rotation. He throws such a nice ball with minimal effort on the release. He’s accurate and knows how to lead receivers down the field. His 6’2″ frame is lengthy enough for the next level, but it’s also important to point out he’s a decent athlete. He had 5 rushing TDs this past season with 33 TDs through the air, which led the 2026 class. Cruz will leave as a 4-year starter and should be a starter at the next level if he continues to develop.
