Wheeler High School tight end Conner Welch Conner Welch 6'5" | 220 lbs | TE/LB Wheeler | 2027 State IN is a playmaker on both sides of the ball. At outside linebacker, he is a heavy hitter who takes great pursuit angles and can deliver heavy hits. Welch is a very good tight end; a good run blocker who can drive his feet on contact and displays good hand placement and strike timing, and is a solid receiver in the passing game. Class of 2027 recruit picked up a preferred walk-on offer from Ball State.

Welch is a talented TE hidden in a small school who checks all the boxes you’re looking for. He’s got the length and frame for Saturdays. He’s a good athlete and can bend fairly well. He can high-point the ball and then go over the middle. He’s got a good vertical and gives the offense an advantage down in the red area. He’s good after the catch and has an extra gear. He’s also a highly productive defense recruit who makes plays all over the field. He’s got good vision and instincts on the field. If he went to a bigger school, he’d likely be highly sought after, and as of today, he will be an absolute steal for whoever takes a shot on him.
