Matt Tate | Prep Redzone Scout
Shirley measures in at 6’2 177-pounds and is a two-way player. The RB/LB had 57 total tackles (22 solo, 35 assisted), 81 carries for 222 yards with 1 touchdown. He has very good athletic ability due to very good change of direction, acceleration, good speed, and balance. Shirley uses his very good read and reaction speed to attack the offense and come out on top. Good sideline to sideline range and has the athletic ability to cover tight ends out in space. Shirley makes his presence known with his hard-hitting ability. Great blitzer as well. As a running back, he demonstrates his good vision paired with good inside running and outside. He excels more as a linebacker and I’m intrigued to see how he caps off his senior season.
