Northcutt was a focal point of my scouting opportunity to watch the Cardinals take on No. 1 Xavier during the state semifinals at the UNI-Dome. I saw him earlier this season against Clear Creek Amana and wanted more in-person data. He doesn’t have any film posted on Hudl. Northcutt is intriguing, no doubt. He brings length and a frame capable of adding good weight. With that will come strength and durability. He runs well and gets downhill in a hurry. During the game against the Saints, Northcutt came up with seven tackles, five of which were solo. He also delivered a tackle for loss. For the season, he ended up with 57.0 tackles (51 solo, 4.0 TFL), a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

While Colton Northcutt Colton Northcutt 6'2" | 195 lbs | LB Newton | 2026 IA doesn’t have film currently, he flashed potential as a solid supporting piece for the Cardinals’ defense last season. Northcutt recorded 29.5 tackles (26 solo), 3 TFLs, and an interception returned for a touchdown last season. His pick six came during the regular season finale over Des Moines Hoover, speeding to the ball as the QB made a hurried throw. With great speed on the edge and showing flexibility against the run and pass, Northcutt could see a much bigger role as one of the returning leaders for Newton’s defense this season.
