Up until last week, Freeman was a member of Beaufort’s program and was coming off a junior season in which he led the Eagles in tackles (108) while adding 10 tackles for loss, two quarterback hurries and a pass breakup.
Immediately, there are going to be some questions about how Freeman fits in with a defensive unit that is already pretty stacked at the position, but at the very least, his arrival answers some of the depth questions that ultimately prevented Hilton Head from making it at least one more round of the state playoffs last fall.
As for Freeman, he exhibits everything you’d want to see from a mid-level college linebacker. Between his size, his pursuit angles and his ability to bust up blockers, he’s about to make a pretty good Hilton Head defense even better.
